NOISE

noise-artwork.jpg

London, 2024

This is my first sonata for guitar, and first of my six sonatas and partitas for solo guitar.

It is quite different from one can expect from the repertoire of the sonata. This work is approached in a two-part process; each piece is first improvised and recorded following a vague blueprint (keys, sections, ranges, melodic and rhythmic leads etc.). After that, each piece is restructured, edited and produced on the computer — some of the processes used included cut/copy/paste, panning, flexing time, reversing etc.

This sonata is entitled Noise, after to the second movement. It sits between the worlds of atonal and modal music with an accent on soundscaping, and marries the worlds of composed and improvised music.
